Novi Sad – European capital of culture for 2022, on stamps as of today

In the City Hall in Novi Sad, within the Ceremonial Academy on the occasion of the City Day, the Acting Director of the Post of Serbia Zoran Đorđević and the Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević, put the commemorative seal on the maximum cards and covers of the first day and thus ceremoniously released the issue of commemorative postage stamps in honour of Novi Sad – European capital of culture, which PE Post of Serbia created in cooperation with the Foundation Novi Sad – European capital of culture.

“In honour of Novi Sad, which bears this prestigious title in 2022, and as a testimony to future generations about the importance of this recognition, I am honoured to present today the result of fruitful cooperation between the City of Novi Sad, the Foundation and the Post of Serbia, with the idea of sending invitations to twin towns all year long, so that their citizens and all other visitors would come to Novi Sad and enjoy various cultural events and programs. Our connection and mutual support will continue through other joint activities on the development of new quality services for citizens, as well as in projects to stimulate economic initiatives and the development of the tourism industry”, said Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia.

Afterwards, Đorđević presented the Mayor Miloš Vučević with the gift from the Post of Serbia, philatelic issue with commemorative postage stamp numbered 1.

Commemorative postage stamps issue “Novi Sad – European capital of culture” conveys the motto of program marking - For new bridges, as symbols of new relations, exchange and connection between new people and spaces. It contains two postage stamps in sheets of eight stamps with vignettes in the middle, two first day covers, two maximum cards and a commemorative seal. The photographs on the issue are the work of Jelena Ivanović and Vladimir Veličković, while the graphic design was done by Anamari Banjac, the creator of the stamps for the Post of Serbia.
