A Futog girl letter competing for the best-written letter in the world

A letter of a twelve-year old Ana Milenković from Futog will represent Serbia at the International Letter-writing Competiton organised by the Universal Postal Union. The theme of this year Competition for the young writers aged 9 to 15  was: „write a letter to an influential person about why and how to take action on climate change“. Our national winner responded with the letter to Ms Henrietta Fore, UNICEF ex-executive director.

As assessed by the Commission made of representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Post of Serbia, Ana Milenković managed to send a powerful message expressing an unbiased consideration for ecological future of the world, but also a call for joint action to protect the Planet climate.

Further to the rules of the Universal Postal Union, PE Post of Serbia, as a national postal operator, has sent Ana’s letter to the seat of this organisation in Switzerland, where the international jury would assess the letters written by winners from all the participating member countries and then announce the three best that will be awarded the golden, silver or bronze medal of the Universal Postal Union.

The Universal Postal Union is a specialized agency of the United Nations, and the International Letter-Writing Competition has been organised for 51 years now on various topics, aiming to contribute to developing literacy skills of the young, through letter-writing art, and also to encourage the participants to express their creativity and improve their writing skills, while observing the rules that the letter must be hand-written, in strictly epistolar form.
