PTT Museum takes part in Museums for 10 event

The Post of Serbia and the PTT Museum in Belgrade will take part in the largest national museum event “Museums for 10”, that will be held under the slogan "The Power of the Museum" in honour of the International Museum Day, European Museum Night and National Museum Week, from May 14 to May 20, where the visitors will be presented with a rich and diverse seven-day free program.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, a new exhibition of postage stamps of the Universal Postal Union will be opened especially for this occasion, from the collection of stamps of foreign postal administrations that the PTT Museum obtained in exchange with the Universal Postal Union. Among many, we single out the United Nations Postage Stamps issue dedicated to International Games, Chinese issues with reproductions of famous Chinese works of art, "History of Spain" with caricatures representing various periods in rich Spanish history, and the United States issue dedicated to the popular Star Wars.

The exhibition of books from the library of the Post of Serbia will present valuable editions, the oldest book kept in the library - Serbian Secretary, from 1802, Monument to famous people of Serbian descent, from 1888; the oldest telephone directory from 1912, Collection of Laws and Regulations in the Principality of Serbia, 1869, first edition of the Postal and Telegraph Gazette from 1889, "Verorgnungsblatt" or the Official Gazette for Administrative Branches of the Austrian Ministry of Trade, printed in Gothic in 1853 and others.

Visitors will also be able to see an exclusive exhibition „Unseen Lubarda” that is available in the PTT Museum until May 27, with ten works of art by Petar Lubarda from private collections unseen before: “Bull”, “Black Panther”, “Dragons”, “Minotaur”, “Camp Still Life”, “Scorpio”, “Brajići Village”, “Rocks”, “Battle of Kosovo” and “The Way of Freedom (Sutjeska)”.

On Saturday May 14, there will be a guided tour of the permanent exhibition of the PTT Museum, beginning at 17.00, 19.00 and 20.00 hrs. On the same day, two interactive workshop “Postal hour for children”, for the youngest visitors on how to write and address a letter, will be held at 16.00 and 18.00 hrs.

All creative visitors can use the visit to the Postal Museum to permanently record impressions from the temple of Serbian postal history in a short video form of up to three minutes, and participate in the prize competition "What is the super POWER of your MUSEUM?". Working hours of the PTT Museum (Majke Jevrosime Street no. 13) during the event will be extended, on Saturday, May 14, it will be open from 10.00 to midnight, and in the continuation of the program from May 15 to 20, it will be open from 10.00 to 23.00 hrs. Entrance is free.
