Diplomatic jubilee of Serbia and Denmark on postage stamp

The Post of Serbia and the State Archives of Serbia presented to the public a commemorative philatelic issue published by the Post of Serbia in honour of the 105th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Denmark.

At the ceremony in the Archives of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Susanne Shine, Ambassador of Denmark to Serbia, Jasmina Mitrović-Marić, PhD Ambassador of Serbia to Denmark, Miroslav Perišić, PhD Director of the State Archives of Serbia, and Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, spoke about good relations, the rise of political and economic cooperation and the events marking the jubilee.

"The Post of Serbia joins the commemoration of the anniversary of 105 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Denmark, with a commemorative philatelic issue that conveys a clear common message that the friendship between Serbia and Denmark endures through time, that Serbia extremely appreciates the historical support that Denmark provided in the most difficult moments of the First World War, and that we are grateful for the equally strong support it provides us today on the path of European integration and economic growth. The artistic realization of the philatelic issue "105 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Denmark" is the work of Marija Vlahović, a talented creator of postage stamps of the Post of Serbia, who successfully and symbolically conveyed our message for the future on postage stamps - that Serbia and Denmark are inextricably linked by friendship, as well as that they can count on each other", said Zoran Đorđević. Along with congratulations on the anniversary, Director Đorđević presented a special gift edition of commemorative postage stamps to Ambassador Shine.

The postage stamp "105 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Denmark" displays portraits of King Peter I Karađorđević and King Christian X, during whose reign diplomatic relations between Serbia and Denmark were established on October 19, 1917. The photographs of the Serbian and Danish kings used for the philatelic edition are part of the collection of documents Kingdom of Serbia and Kingdom of Denmark, edited by Jasmina Mitrović-Marić, PhD, Jelica Reljić and Aleksandar Marković. The collection was published by the State Archives of Serbia on the occasion of the diplomatic jubilee. The Archives also provided professional cooperation in the realization of the philatelic edition.
