Postage stamp honoring 120 years of diplomatic relations of Serbia and Cuba

The jubilee of 120 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Cuba is also marked by a commemorative philatelic issue, which was presented to the public by Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, and HE Gustavo Tristá del Todo, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Serbia.

Đorđević and Ambassador Tristá del Todo highlighted the successful development of relations that have been marked by trust and mutual respect for 120 years. They welcomed the further development and intensification of ties between Belgrade and Havana in the political, economic and cultural spheres, based on the traditional strong friendship and commitment of both sides.

"Despite the geographical distance, our countries and peoples are connected by true closeness, understanding and mutual support in both good and difficult moments. We agree that the cooperation between our countries should and can be even more meaningful. The Post of Serbia makes a symbolic contribution to marking the jubilee of our friendship in the field of philately and cultural exchange, where there is great potential to bring our cultures even closer. We chose that the commemorative postage stamp, with carefully selected motifs, tells a rich story about the history of our relations and commitment to libertarian values, as well as reminding of the exceptional literary heritage of literary greats and their merits for our nations", said Zoran Đorđević.

The motifs on the commemorative postage stamp are portraits of Laza Kostić and José Martí, outstanding poets and prominent national fighters and revolutionaries. They created in a similar period, and they are connected by diversity of interests, social involvement and active social action in addition to literary creation. The commemorative philatelic issue, in addition to the commemorative postage stamp with a nominal value of 100 dinars, printed in a circulation of 25,000 copies, contains a first-day cover and a commemorative seal. It was realized in professional cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Serbia, while the artistic realization is signed by Boban Savić, MA, Academic Painter, Creator of stamps for the Post of Serbia.
