Zoran Đorđević and Dejan Savić visiting the Association of Writers

The Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, and the Cultural Advisor to the President of Serbia, Dejan Savić, visited the headquarters of the Association of Writers of Serbia UKS and discussed with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Serbian Writers' Association, Miloš Janković, the further implementation of the cooperation agreement between Post of Serbia and the Association and current issues of the status and maintenance of the building in 7 Francuska St. in Belgrade.

Miloš Janković presented the plans and program activities of the UKS, which is the oldest guild art association in Serbia, and pointed out that a significant part of the activities is realized precisely with the support of the Post of Serbia. A special topic of the meeting was the joint appearance of the Post and the Association of Writers at the upcoming International Belgrade Book Fair in October, as well as its support for holding the 60th jubilee Belgrade International Meeting of Writers in the same period.

The conversation was also about status problems and the collapse of the building in 7 Francuska St, with the status of a first-class cultural asset under the protection of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, which is home to two other representative associations in the field of literature – the Serbian Literary Society and the Association of Literary Translators of Serbia. The building was built in 1884 according to the project of the architect Ljubomir Ilkić, for the family home of Milan Piroćanc, politician, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Serbia and President of the then Serbian Progressive Party.
