Novi Sad fleet gets new electric delivery vehicles

On the plateau in front of the City Hall in Novi Sad, Post's latest electric delivery vehicles Cenntro Logistar 200 VAN were presented, intended for specialized delivery at the addresses of citizens and Novi Sad companies – Post Express postal items, parcels, EMS items, cash express, telegrams and money orders.

Mayor of Novi Sad Milan Đurić and Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, visited the fleet and talked about current projects to improve the infrastructure and quality of services.

"The long-term commitment of the Post of Serbia is to constantly increase the share of electric vehicles in the transport fleet - electric mopeds, electric bicycles and electric vans, and we have chosen Novi Sad to be the first city where the entire fleet will be replaced by electric vehicles in the near future. In this phase, 31 electric trucks have arrived, which will be used for delivery in the city centre by the end of the month, and which, in addition to providing better services, will also contribute to a better quality of life in Novi Sad and its even better positioning among large environmentally conscious European cities.", said Zoran Đorđević.

Đorđević added that "ecological" vehicles are only one of the activities by which the Post of Serbia continues to innovate all phases of the technological process and infrastructure, and with which it achieves significant steps towards a sustainable environmentally responsible future, as well as economic savings in the long term.

"The next step is the installation of solar panels on the Novi Sad postal centre building, which is the regional centre for the entire Vojvodina. The first solar panels in the postal system were recently installed in the centre in Kragujevac, while the next phase, in addition to Novi Sad, is planned for Belgrade and Niš, with which we will provide energy from renewable sources for powering plants and machines for automatic sorting and the needs of our own electric vehicle charging stations", said Đorđević.

Mayor Milan Đurić expressed his satisfaction with the presentation of new vehicles, as well as the plans for the purchase of trucks of the Post of Serbia, which will also be electric.

"This is a nice event for Novi Sad - 31 electric vans that will replace older vehicles on our streets, do not emit harmful gases and produce far less noise. We talked to the drivers of these beautiful vehicles - they are satisfied", said Đurić. He added that the City of Novi Sad will continue to invest in sustainable development with new investments in electric buses, by increasing the number of bicycle lanes, as well as in the form of subsidies to citizens. As the first city to start subsidizing the purchase of bicycles, Novi Sad has already awarded 5,000 subsidies.
