Vote for Serbia in the European stamp election–Vinča Figurine central motif
The Post of Serbia stamp with the Vinča culture motif is competing in the European election for the most beautiful postage stamp of the "Europe" edition named "National Archaeological Discoveries", in competition with 56 postage stamps issued by European postal administrations. Voting is open to the public and lasts until 9 September, 2025, and all our citizens can participate.
You can vote for the Post of Serbia postage stamp featuring an Anthropomorphic Figurine (15x6.5cm) from the Vinča site at europastamps.eu/europa2025, according to the "one click, one vote" principle.
Professional cooperation and material for the motifs of the "Europe" edition were provided by the National Museum of Serbia, while the artistic realization of the issue was the work of Nadežda Skočajić, the creator of the stamps of the Post of Serbia.
Vinča is, next to Lepenski Vir, the most important prehistoric archaeological site in Serbia. The remains from the Late Neolithic, which make up its largest segment, formed by the layering of settlements by generations of Late Neolithic inhabitants, belong to the period 5300–4600 BC. Based on the objects found – ceramic vessels, artifacts made of stone, bone and horn, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figurines, prosopomorphic lids, altars, pieces of malachite and cinnabar, decorative objects, jewelry, as well as the remains of houses, the Vinča culture has been defined – the most important phenomenon of the Late Neolithic and Eneolithic, which developed throughout the territory of the central Balkans, and was named after this locality.
The annual PostEurop election for the most beautiful stamp of the “Europe” edition has been held since 2002 under the auspices of the Association of European Public Postal Operators – PostEurop, in which the Post of Serbia has participated since the very beginning. Since 2007, with the introduction of online voting, the election has been open to the public and is increasingly popular among citizens, as well as among philatelists and philately enthusiasts.
