Post and MFA presented an exhibition dedicated to philately and diplomacy

As part of the ceremony marking the Day of Serbian Diplomacy, the Post of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia presented the exhibition "Letter of Friendship - Philately and Diplomacy" at the Museum of Serbian Diplomacy, in the presence of numerous diplomats and other high-ranking officials.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, referring to the historical background of the celebration of the Day of Serbian Diplomacy, emphasized that it is, above all, a reminder of the deeply rooted national effort to preserve the voice of reason, moderation and wisdom in international relations, in times of turbulent historical changes.

"Today, in modern conditions, our diplomacy continues to rely on these deep foundations, adapting to contemporary trends, challenges and needs of a modern, independent, militarily neutral and open state," the minister emphasized.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also pointed out that the success achieved by the diplomatic service would not be possible without the people who make up its staff, expressing deep gratitude to all Serbian diplomats who committedly and dedicatedly defend the interests of the Republic of Serbia, as well as to diplomats who represent their countries and organizations in our country.

The exhibition "Letter of Friendship - Philately and Diplomacy" displays diplomatic issues of commemorative postage stamps from the philatelic production of the Post of Serbia, recognized worldwide and repeatedly awarded for their outstanding visual and artistic contribution to international philately. The Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Anđelković, emphasized that it represents a gift from the Post of Serbia to all Serbian diplomats and a way to express gratitude to them, as he said, for building lasting ties.

"For this occasion, we have selected thirty postage stamps celebrating the anniversary years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and other countries, from the beginning of the 21st century to the present day. We had to leave a much larger number of commemorative issues honouring sports, cultural, economic, academic, artistic diplomacy, with almost all the countries in the world with which Serbia has diplomatic relations, for another occasion, because everything we have to present would not fit in this space," said Director Anđelković.

He added that at the moment, the artistic philatelic workshop of "Srbijamarka" is preparing new issues that will celebrate international cooperation and diplomatic successes of Serbia. "That is why the story of philately and diplomacy never ends. It is eternal. With each new stamp, it lasts and lives," concluded director Anđelković.

Organized with the idea of providing insight into the cultural achievements of Serbian diplomacy as extremely important indicators of its reputation and reach, the exhibition "Letter of Friendship - Philately and Diplomacy" will be displayed in diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia around the world in the coming months.
