Post of Serbia launched its third system with robotic support in Novi Sad

Robots for automated sorting of postal items will start to speed up and improve processes at the Regional Postal Centre in Novi Sad and make everyday tasks easier for technology workers, while preserving jobs. The robot commissioning event was addressed by the Acting Director of the Post of Serbia Zoran Anđelković, Director of the Working Unit “Novi Sad” Milan Tešović, and the Mayor of Novi Sad Žarko Mićin, who marked the start of the robotic platform.

Director Zoran Anđelković said that the Post of Serbia is key to the growth of online retailing and that it has provided robotic support to support the growth of e-commerce and provide the capacity to attract and implement new business.

"This is a big step for us, to start developing postal services even faster, to be quicker and more expeditious, and that is why we are doing all this," said Director Anđelković. He added that Novi Sad and its processing centre are very important for the Post of Serbia, not only for the efficiency of postal services in Vojvodina, but also because of its connections with international markets. He highlighted that one of the tasks is to further strengthen this centre, as well as to erect an office building in this area in the next two years, where experts will work and be concentrated, and not just technology workers.

"The application of artificial intelligence and digitalization bring new improvements for customers in the area of Novi Sad and the entire Vojvodina, guaranteeing better services, speed, reliability, as well as the development of completely new services, tailored to their needs," concluded Director Zoran Anđelković.

The new director of the "Novi Sad" Working Unit of the Post of Serbia, Milan Tešović, welcomed the guests and expressed his expectations and willingness to contribute to the development and improvement of postal services, with new technology that follows, as he said, European trends, which will contribute to better market positioning and profitable operations.

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, expressed his satisfaction with the modernization of postal services in line with the needs of the 21st century, which means faster, more efficient and higher quality postal services for the people of Novi Sad.

"For us in Novi Sad, innovations are welcome. Novi Sad is one of the fastest growing cities with a population of half a million in this part of Europe. Novi Sad has once again become a developed industrial centre. The development of industry and the development of the economy have enabled the growth of the living standards of the people of Novi Sad, which has increased their purchasing power and the need for greater exchange of postal services. In addition, Novi Sad is a regional centre of IT technology. Here in Novi Sad, Novi Sad engineers are developing the future of the automotive industry, the future of the small electric motor industry, but also robotics," said Mayor Mićin.

The robotic platform in Novi Sad has 43 robots with 78 sorting outlets in different regions. The processing capacity is 2,500 postal items per hour, up to the region level of each individual delivery person in all delivery post offices in the “Novi Sad” Working Unit area, and will also enable distribution to other working units in the territory of Vojvodina.

The event was attended and the system was tested by guests from the city administration and the Assembly of the City of Novi Sad and the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, management, directors of working units, and employees of the Post of Serbia.
