Classical Serbia Exhibition from the Predrag Antić Collection until June 25
PTT Museum, June 11th – An exclusive exhibition "The Principality and Kingdom of Serbia, from the Philatelic Collection of Predrag Cuki Antić" dedicated to "Classical Serbia", as the period of the Principality and Kingdom of Serbia is recognized in the philatelic dictionary, has opened at the PTT Museum in Belgrade.
Collector Predrag Cuki Antić presented the motives, milestones and moments of joy due to the achievements during his many years of philately, research and collection of rare philatelic items. He explained that he had recently removed his two collections on display at the PTT Museum from the list of exhibitors of the European and International Federation of Philately, and that this was the last opportunity for them to be exhibited at the PTT Museum.
"I would invite you to observe and suggest to younger exhibitors and philatelists that they always end their work on this hobby with some of their exhibits, because in this way they encompass a part of history and the period they are dealing with, that they complete and add, discover new things that are not known, and that can only be done through studious and constant work on their exhibit," said Antić.
The President of the Union of Philatelists of Serbia, Vladimir Milić, said that philately is considered the king among hobbies and the hobby of kings. "Predrag Cuki Antić is one of the greatest philatelists we have ever had, and without a doubt the best Serbian exhibitor. His collection “Classical Serbia”, which he presented to the wider international public through two exhibits - the exhibit of the Principality of Serbia and the exhibit of the Kingdom of Serbia, is essentially a story about the development of the Serbian post, and at the same time about the development of the Serbian state," said Milić. He pointed out that it is the collection of the only Serbian exhibitor who has twice been a candidate for the Grand Prix at the international philatelic exhibition, the highest global recognition that a collection can receive.
The guests were welcomed by the head of the PTT Museum, Marko Jelić. He thanked the author for organizing the exhibition, which is a testament to decades of collection work, as well as for his efforts to, as a true patriot, return to Serbia the most significant and precious examples of philately of the Principality and Kingdom of Serbia.
"What particularly sets this exhibition apart is the multidisciplinary approach - historical, technical, visual and museological, while the exhibits are not only the subject of interest for collectors, but also cultural heritage documents that testify to Serbia's geopolitical position, its connections with the East and the West, as well as its internal institutional development," said Jelić.
A tour of the exhibition was then organized for the guests.
The exhibition at the PTT Museum is open to visitors until June 25. Admission is free of charge.
