Post of Serbia temporarily suspends receipt of postal items for the USA

The Post of Serbia is temporarily suspending the receipt of all types of postal items for recipients in the United States of America, starting today, August 25.

The US administration's decision at the end of July to end the de minimis treatment of postal items directly affects postal operators across Europe and the world. In practice, it means that all postal items containing commercial goods arriving in the US will be subject to customs duties, regardless of the value of the goods, through a prepayment system, starting on August 29, when the new customs rules come into effect.

In this process, there are open and not yet fully defined issues regarding customs clearance of commercial items containing goods, especially in the process of collecting customs duties from senders in advance. Since the air carriers with which the Post of Serbia has signed business cooperation agreements have also suspended the transfer of all types of postal items to the USA, the Post of Serbia has been forced to join postal operators across Europe that have already stopped receiving postal items intended for the United States.

The temporary suspension of the receipt of all types of postal items sent by natural persons and legal entities to recipients in the United States begins on August 25, 2025 and will last until all critical issues are resolved and uncertainty regarding the new US customs and tariff rules for sending items from Serbia to the United States is overcome.

We will inform the public and customer in a timely manner about all changes and progress in resolving the current situation.
