Post of Serbia Modernization of Strategic Importance for the State
Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Đuro Macut, visited the Regional Postal and Logistics Centre of the Public Enterprise Post of Serbia in Belgrade, within which a new system for robotic sorting of parcels is operating.
This modern system, which represents one of the most significant steps towards the digital transformation of PE Post of Serbia, will enable faster, more precise and more efficient processing of postal items and it will significantly reduce the burden on employees in the operational process.
Prime Minister Prof. Macut spoke with Acting Director of PEPost of Serbia Zoran Anđelković, emphasizing that the company has a lot of room for improving its operations, especially when it comes to IT services, as well as a great development opportunity.
In this context, Prof. Macut emphasized that the modernization of work of PE Post of Serbia is of strategic importance for the state and stated that the Government remains committed to providing support for the improvement of infrastructure, technological development and the preservation of jobs.
During the meeting the key issues related to the financial stability of the company, optimization of the organizational structure, as well as the continuation of the process of modernization and digitalization of services were discussed.
Prime Minister is familiar with plans to build robotic logistics centres in four more cities in Serbia, modernize parcel machines that are increasingly popular with citizens, and introduce new e-services.
The interlocutors agreed that it is important to continue the dialogue and implement measures that will contribute to the sustainable development of the company and a better position for all employees.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the management, Supervisory Board and representative trade unions of PEPost of Serbia.
The robotic platform, which Prime Minister Prof. Macut visited, has 153 robots and 216 sorting outputs in different areas, with a sorting capacity of 7,000 postal items per hour. This modern and complex software solution was developed by engineers and programmers at PEPost of Serbia. The software automatically performs six technological operations that have so far been implemented manually, which significantly shortens the time spent on postal items in postal centres, and thus the time of delivery to end users. On the other hand, it contributes to improving the working conditions of employees and facilitating daily tasks, reducing manual work and repetitive tasks.
This is a technological innovation that Post of Serbia uses to improve its business infrastructure and logistics network in the long term, and to provide users with a better quality of service. Robotic systems have been operating at postal and logistics centres in Niš, Novi Sad and Kragujevac since May, and will soon be implemented at the postal centre in Kraljevo.
