KUD "Đoka Pavlović" Celebrated 80 Years of Work with a Great Concert
The Cultural and Artistic Society "Đoka Pavlović" of the Post of Serbia held a festive annual concert to celebrate 80 years of work, presenting the rich dancing and singing skills of all sections with more than 100 participants in the programme, accompanied by the Society's folk orchestra.
The President of the KUD "Đoka Pavlović" Tijana Rajković emphasized that the Society has developed and survived thanks to the enthusiasm and love of numerous generations of its members, which in many families have been passed down from generation to generation. She expressed special gratitude to the Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Anđelković, without whose understanding, support and assistance, she emphasized, it would not have been possible to realize the Society's activities and celebrate the anniversary, as well as return to the premises at the Company's headquarters that it had designated for its work.
Director Zoran Anđelković said that the Post will always support associations that foster culture and preserve tradition and national heritage. “Those who do not appreciate the history and culture of their people cannot say that they have achieved anything in life,” said Anđelković. He emphasized the importance of bringing together all generations, especially the younger generation, under the auspices of cultural and artistic associations, with the aim of preserving national culture and highlighting “the beauty, diversity and wealth that Serbia has.”
The First Performing Ensemble inspiredly performed "Dances from the Niš Area" by choreographer Slavica Mihailović, then "Old Bosnian Silent Circle from Glamoč" by Olga Skovran, as well as "Girls' Competition from Crna Trava" by choreographer Janko Dimitrijević.
The recreational dancers showed that their dancing skills are at an enviable level by performing "Dances from Serbia" by choreographer Pavle Jovanović, while the original singing groups, both female and male, presented themselves with an extraordinary performance of traditional songs, under the leadership of Katarina Bojkov and Stevan Gojković.
Veterans showed exceptional enthusiasm and practice in performing Predrag Nestorović's choreography "Vlach Dances from the Kladovo Area" and Trajče Simeonovski's "Old Town Dances", while the same choreographer's "Dances from Šumadija" was very successfully performed by the ensemble of younger veterans.
The concert ended with a masterful performance of Milorad Lonić's choreography "The Sun Rose at the Svrljig Sabor", staged by the First Performing Ensemble.
In the full hall of the Belgrade Youth Centre, there were people of all generations, former dancers and artistic directors, parents and relatives of the members, as well as other admirers of the Society's art, the management and numerous employees of the Post of Serbia.
