Post of Serbia Hosts PostEurop Working Group Meeting in Belgrade
Zoran Anđelković, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, spoke at the opening of a meeting for the Performance & Operations and Operational Data working groups, which brought together representatives from European postal operators.
The Post of Serbia is hosting an international meeting of the PostEurop Performance & Operations and Operational Data working groups. The event, held in Belgrade on and November 4 and 5, gathered representatives from European postal operators and international organizations.
At the opening, Zoran Anđelković, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, addressed the attendees. He welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of international cooperation during a period of intense change within the postal sector—a transformation driven by the growth of e-commerce, digitalization, automation, and evolving user needs.
"The future of the postal industry depends on our willingness to adapt, invest, and implement new solutions. That is why, over the past two and a half years, we have worked intensively on modernization—with a clear commitment to making innovation, digitalization, automation, and the integration of artificial intelligence key drivers of our future development," Anđelković stated. He specifically highlighted the introduction of robotic parcel-sorting systems, for which the Post of Serbia received a prestigious recognition from the organization PostEurop—the "Rising Star in Innovation 2025" award. The award was granted for the project involving the implementation of robotic parcel-sorting systems, which were deployed throughout 2025 in postal-logistics centers located in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac, and Kraljevo.
Thanks to this robotization, sorting capacity has increased from approximately 8,500 to 25,500 parcels per hour. This modernization continued with the opening of a new robotic postal-logistics center in Subotica in October of this year, with further plans to expand automation across regional centers.
Other key development priorities for the Post of Serbia include expanding the network of parcel lockers, developing the e-Mailman digital service, and integrating artificial intelligence into the Contact Center—all aimed at improving communication with users and providing faster, more accessible support.
Anđelković also emphasized the Post of Serbia’s commitment to sustainable operations and the "green transition," evidenced by investments in renewable energy sources, electric delivery vehicles, and the infrastructure required to charge them. Activities are currently underway to construct solar power plants at several postal-logistics centers, with a total capacity of 1.2 MW.
"All these changes share a common goal: for the Post of Serbia to be a modern, efficient, and reliable company—but, above all, a company that is always close by and at the service of its citizens," stated Anđelković.
During the two-day meeting, participants will exchange experiences and discuss updates to the regulations and services of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), shifts in international postal traffic, operational quality and performance, as well as new delivery models and the enhancement of the customer experience.
A specific segment of the program will focus on the experiences of postal operators regarding the implementation of innovative solutions, digitalization, and the development of services tailored to the evolving habits and expectations of users. Among others, PostNL and the Post of Serbia will present their business practices and case studies.
The program also includes a visit to the Regional Postal and Logistics Center in Belgrade, where international guests will have the opportunity to learn about modern robotic systems for sorting shipments and observe the operations of the Post of Serbia’s Contact Center. The program also includes a visit to the space dedicated to EXPO 2027 at the Belgrade Fair, where participants will have the opportunity to learn about preparations for the international specialized exhibition, which will be held in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027.
The Acting Director of the Post of Serbia highlighted that the Post of Serbia is an active participant in this major project and invited the attendees to visit Belgrade again next year, during the EXPO 2027 event.
The international meeting of PostEurop working groups serves as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among European postal operators, exchange knowledge and experience, and collectively find solutions to the challenges shaping the future of the postal sector.
