Postage stamp marks the jubilee of victory over fascism

On 9 May, the Post of Serbia shall issue and put into circulation an appropriate edition of commemorative stamps "75 years since victory over fascism on 9 May - Victory Day (1945-2020)”, in honor of celebrating this significant jubilee and as a reminder of Serbia's contribution to victory over fascism and the huge sacrifices it made in that conflict.

The commemorative stamp is dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day over Fascism, and in the central part of its sheet there is a vignette with the motif of the Immortal Regiment, a march during which descendants of fighters carry photographs of their ancestors that had participated in World War II as a token of gratitude and remembrance of immortal heroes that had fallen in the fight against Fascism, which was first held in the Russian city of Tyumen under the slogan “Winners Parade” in 2007. Since 2019, the Immortal Regiment is a state event in Serbia, which is celebrated every year on Victory Day – 9 May.

At the initiative of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the Post of Serbia prepared this commemorative edition in professional cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs.

The issue contains a commemorative postage stamp with a nominal value of RSD 74 in counter sheets of eight stamps with a vignette in the center, an appropriate First Day Cover (FDC) and a suitable seal. The postage stamp was printed in a circulation of 25,000 copies.

On the occasion of celebrating Victory Day over Fascism, the facade of the Main Post Office in Belgrade shall illuminate with red decorative lighting on 9 May, thus marking the Post of Serbia’s participation in this important jubilee.
