Strategic Cooperation on Digitalization between Post and Office for eGov

Zoran Đorđević, Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, and Mihailo Jovanović, PhD, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, signed an agreement today stipulating that the PE Post of Serbia uses the services of the State Data Centre in Belgrade and looked back on the achieved results in the field of digitalization and joint provision of services to citizens.

The Office for IT and eGovernment and the PE Post of Serbia are cooperating on several very important projects that contribute to timely informing, as well as providing support to citizens in the use of eGovernment services.

“This agreement is a very important step in our partnership and represents the basis for ambitious future plans. With the progress made in the comprehensive digitalization of society and administration, the Post, with the support of the Office, has come a long way in digitalizing its services and processes, which is one of our primary goals that allows expanding the scope, availability and quality of services. We are developing digital solutions for numerous traditional services, but also completely new digital services, in accordance with the modern needs of citizens. Among other things, the application solutions will enable citizens to pay bills from the comfort of their homes, organize sending and receiving postal items, send eTelegrams and eGreetingCards, while for the needs of the economy we are working on the eNotary project where the advantages for the Post are the completion of the range of services, optimization of resource use and increased profits. In all these tasks, the Office for IT and eGovernment is a valuable and reliable partner”, said Zoran Đorđević.

“Together with the Post of Serbia, we are partnering in the development of eGovernment - in more than 700 post offices in Serbia, citizens can get the support regarding becoming eCitizens and obtaining their eIdentity necessary for the use eGovernment services on the eGovernment Portal and other state portals. During the corona virus pandemic, over 16 million SMS messages were sent regarding vaccination of citizens against Covid-19 and many other services were provided thanks to the infrastructure of the Post of Serbia, trying to provide citizens with timely information on vaccination appointments and locations. The arrival of the Post of Serbia in the State Data Centre is an excellent business move of this enterprise, which will accelerate the development of digitalization and the provision of services of the Post”, said Mihailo Jovanović.

Jovanović added that over 500,000 digital green certificates have been issued to citizens at the post office counters so far, those used in Serbia that are EU-compatible, which is another great indicator of successful cooperation. Finally, the state optical infrastructure in the length of over 250 km, which connects all public institutions in Belgrade, was realized in cooperation with the Post of Serbia and represents the backbone of digitalization of public administration.
